Moving Part II

Moving
Part II

As if packing & loading all your things into a Moving Truck, isnt daunting task already..
Roadtrip Moves are even more fun, & always a Adventure!! This was my first time Driving a long distance road trip with just the kids & I. (4-5 hours max before)  We left Saturday early evening and arrived the next Afternoon. It is about a 12 hour Drive. However we stopped and stayed the night in the middle of Nevada. Probably the most old/grossest thing I have ever spent 100 dollars at in my entire life!! It was so nasty we slept on top of the covers!! We are so glad to have arrived safely at my In-laws!

Getting onto I80... Such a Perfect Send off!
A Huge Wildfire in the Mountains before the Salt Flats...

Salt Flats!!!

Aunty Mallory & her Special K Crackers... Shes Obsessed!

Loaded to the MAX!!

Sleeping Beauty...

They insisted they wanted to help with the gas. When I asked the kids why Brent said it was because they wanted to be good helpers since Dad wasn't there! So Sweet!!!
Day 2

Lacy Bear!!
Benson & his Cone... Someone got fixed before we left...
Middle of Nevada...

Tahoe!! Almost there!! Going over the Pass... (don't worry I was in bumper to bumper)

We Made it!!!! Watching Grandpa load/store our stuff with the Tractor...

Moving Day

MOVING DAY...

Thank goodness for IPhones!!! I am & have been depending on My Iphone more and more for Photos. Sad, but so much more convenient. Luckily, I am able to capture more of our day to day lives.

Moving Day was crazy!!! Every time we Move, I am always baffled! By how much stuff we have. Shockingly, we got rid of 3 truck loads of things over the past 3 months!! There was not one inch spared at the end. Its always a daunting task.

The morning of Friday, the 27th, we drove down to get the Uhual Trucks. Alan drove the Trucks back. While the kids & I made a stop at Krispy Kreme Donuts. Can you believe this was their first time?!

It took us a full 24 hours to load & clean!

We were exhausted at the end!!!

Moving

After months of preparation its finally come!!! Here is Our Uhaul... lol. Sad thing not everything fit! So we had to leave stuff behind!!! :(

Ginny got to come and spend almost 48 hours with me before we left!! So grateful in the midst of all the crazy, I was able to enjoy my last hours in Utah having fun!! We did our usual of Energy Massages, grabbed healthy snacks at our favorite Sunflower Market, and ate Soy Ice Cream while we watched Sister Wives!! Perfect way to end my time in Utah!!! The next morning Ginny even helped us load the moving truck! (she was on vaca without her girls!) Sadly we didn't snatch any photos. :( Next time...

My Cousin Ariell took our kids for a few hours to go play! Thanks Ariell!!!

My father in law, sister in law & bf came out to help us load. Alan's Dad drove the truck for us. That way Alan could drive with the dogs, kids, and I.

My Aunt & Uncle stopped by to say Goodbye. Which most of the time we spent crying. Brenton & Savannah see them so much they just think there grandparents.

And saying Goodbye to Aunty Mallory was very hard... Before we spent 85% of our time together since she moved to Utah in 2009. I think not having her around its going to be the most difficult to adjust to.

Goodbye Utah!!! You will always hold a special place in Our Hearts!!!

We will Post when we arrive...

Our Lives have been CRAZY since the last post...

I have officially LOST track of the days. My days consist of Packing, Packing, & more Packing... We have a TON of stuff!!! However it has been so refreshing to dump and to have a fresh start!

*Coffee Table for the new Couch
*3 New Dinning Chairs
*2 New Kid Chairs

Its hard to believe Alan has been gone for almost 2 weeks now. He has survived his first major Midwest snow storm, and bitter negative temperature's. Alan is already seeing how much opportunity and growth he can have there. He is just being a sponge and soaking up everything he learns, as well as volunteering to prove what a hard worker he is.

Alan's hotel is a mile away from IBM. So he has been walking everyday to and from work. I cannot help but laugh at the thought. He often complains about how out of shape he is. Mostly its because he is going a mile up hill and a mile down hill everyday in the snow. Sound familiar? lol. I keep telling him he is paying his dues for growing up in California. Obviously he has little sympathy from me. I did the same walk to a bus stop all through middle school up and down a hill in the snow, plus with hives. Its pretty safe to say he is looking forward to spring.

My life has consisted of getting over a nasty bit of the flu. We have had more time outs in the past 2 weeks then in the kids lifetimes. The kids are super over emotional!! Even though normally, we wouldn't see Alan as much here. (due to his work schedule) Anything is usually better than nothing. Brenton has only gone to school twice and refuses to leave "My Mother & My Sister!!". Brenton also gave himself a wonderful black eye while playing rough with Savannah. At least Savannah has been handling things a little better. Although the first week she spent crying herself to sleep saying "I Miss My Dad!!!!". FINALLY I think they are some what adjusting, and finally getting back to things being somewhat normal. Hooray for 8:30 pm bedtimes again!!! Who knew how much I would need that! I am reminded multiple times daily how much they miss there daddy and how they cant wait for us to head to Iowa to be with him. And every night is not complete without a video chat with Dad. Thank You Skype!!

We have began packing up the house and dumping stuff. Most likely we will be downsizing in Iowa because homes like the one we have are $2200+ a month. And the whole point of Iowa was to save money and pay off debt at higher paying salary. I'm a little concerned with our house selections there. I think its safe to say Utah has made me a House Snob. My expectations are unrealistic, and getting a 3 bedroom house is almost unheard of. To make matters worse everything looks like the house at the beg of Twister. If we ever buy a house there, mark my words it will be one of the nicest houses around. Alan has told me it wont be hard to do with my taste and decorating skills.

The kids and I are packing up for a week vacation in Southern California. We are headed to Disneyland for Brenton's 4th Birthday. I'm trying to take advantage of the ocean while I can... so more then likely you will find us on or next to the beach for a good couple of days. Overall I need this break from Utah's cold temperatures, constant snow flurries, and just the whole process of packing.

Ps. Photos are from Brenton's "Wear your PJ's to School Day". Naturally Savannah wanted to do so also! :)

Part I

MEET My BFF GINNY

This is One of My Best Friend's, Ginny. Ginny & I were in the same stake growing up back in Massachusetts. Ginny was married in 2004 to Ben Hill. Alan & I were married 10 months later. Ben & Ginny have 2 gorgeous little Girls, Jocee & Sophie. Last year she lost her husband, Ben in a plane crash.

No one really tells you that we you get married, that you kinda have to start dating all over again. People you have considered friends up until this point are still you friends except now you have a spouse that has to get along with them too. Plus not to mention if there married it just became more complicated. When we first got married Alan & I went on a ton of "couple dates" to find the "right couple" to hang out with. After many discouraging "dates", I reconnected with Ginny on Myspace and so it began. They were "Our Couple"... We went target shooting, concerts, dinner, the temple, movies, shopping, celebrated birthdays, ect. Our Husbands got along great, there only complaint is that we could & would spend hours on end talking to each other!! haha. Then one day we just kinda stopped talking ... which when we think about it now seems weird and silly however it all makes sense to us now.

Fast forward 3 years later... While cleaning up downstairs, I had the news playing in the background. I could hear them announce there was a single engine plane that had crashed in Provo. Instantly my heart sank and my first thought was of Ben. I immediately ran to the computer to see if the story had been posted on ksl yet. Nothing. Every 5 Minutes I refreshed until I saw the story appear. Finally Ben's name appeared next to the plane crash. Alan & I were beyond disbelief. I felt sick to my stomach for the rest of the evening. Alan had to leave for work a few hours later & the kids had fallen asleep early that night. A blessing because I shortly began sobbing for hours on end which resulted in vomiting. I tossed and turned all night. All I could think of was how this was the worst night of Ginny's life. Extremely sad for the loss of a good friend especially when we saw how close his plane was to the runway. How I wish I knew where she lived & at the same time extreme guilt for loosing contact with them. For years now, Alan has been working nights. And I remember what a hard adjustment it was not having him next to me when I would go to sleep. It took me months to get use to it. In fact, I'm pretty sure, that's why I fall asleep with the tv on now. So naturally the thought of Ginny's first of many nights alone ate me up. I didn't sleep at all in a sense I felt guilty for sleeping when she probably wasn't. Within a week of emails we picked up right where we left off.

Fast forward 1 year... Ginny flew out so that she could visit the crash site on the year mark. I felt extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to go with her for her first time. In something so awful he couldn't have crashed at a more beautiful site. The sun peaked through the clouds creating the most gorgeous rays of sunshine. It was cool enough for a lite coat but warm enough to be able to stand outside for hours.

We realize now that in those 3 years we both grew as people. We both become mothers of 2. We grew even more closer to our husbands. We both were able to focus 100% to our family's. Most importantly Ginny had 3 years with Ben.

Weekend Getaway...

Even though we just returned from Vacation... we decided for a little getaway to our timeshare in Park City and on our way home hit Hoogle Zoo! :)
